Custom House portraits are created using a photograph as reference. The medium is black indian ink and graphite on Arches watercolor paper. The painting comes matted in an acid-free cream mat and foam core backing which fits in a standard frame.

Drawing turnaround time is typically about 1 - 2 weeks from the time the photo is received. Rush orders are accepted when possible.

​For group portraits, add seventy percent for each additional person. Portrait sizes are suggestions and can be adjusted.

 

Taxes and framing are not included.

Artist’s travel and accommodations are paid by client.

Twenty-five percent deposit with balance due upon delivery.

Commission Procedures

 

Several steps are involved for a portrait to be painted.  

First, I like to discuss with the client his/her needs and expectations. We review the medium, the size of the portrait, and the subject matter.

 

Second, an appointment is scheduled for a photographic sitting of the subject(s). I prefer to take my own photographs and use this as an opportunity to get to know the subject(s). A contract is signed at this time. The contract requires a twenty-five percent deposit.
​Next, an appointment is scheduled to review proofs and mutually agree upon the pose to use for the portrait.

 

Finally, when the portrait is completed, arrangements are made for delivery of the completed portrait. The balance of the commission is collected at the time of delivery.
